It’s commonly used in Indian and Southeast Asian cuisines and is prized for its mild flavor and versatility in cooking. Snake gourd has a unique, elongated shape, typically curved or serpentine, resembling a snake. The skin is usually green with some white or pale streaks running through it. The gourd can grow up to 3 feet long, though smaller, tender gourds are preferred for cooking.

Snake gourd is rich in vitamins A and C, which support immune health and promote healthy skin. It also contains important minerals like potassium, which helps regulate blood pressure. Since it is made up mostly of water, snake gourd helps keep you hydrated and contributes to overall hydration in the body.
