LETTUCE ICEBURG

Iceberg lettuce is often used in salads, sandwiches, and wraps for its refreshing crunch and versatility. Iceberg lettuce grows in a tight, round head, resembling a ball. The leaves form a compact, dense cluster, which is why it’s often referred to as “head lettuce. “The outer leaves of Iceberg lettuce are typically light green, while the inner leaves are a pale yellowish-green, becoming lighter as you move toward the core. Iceberg lettuce has  a crisp, crunchy texture, with a water-rich, almost watery feel. The leaves are thick and crisp, making it a good option for adding crunch to dishes.

Iceberg lettuce is a low-calorie food, making it a great choice for people watching their caloric intake or looking to add volume to their meals without adding significant calories. Iceberg lettuce has a high water content (about 95%), which makes it great for hydration, especially during hot weather. While not as nutrient-dense as some other leafy greens, Iceberg lettuce still contains small amounts of vitamin A, vitamin K, and folate, along with some fiber. However, it’s not as rich in nutrients compared to varieties like Romaine or spinach.
